Kortney Bigelow
Veterinarian
Dr. Bigelow grew up in northeastern Wisconsin, where her love and compassion for animals inspired her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. During her time there, she served as President of the pre-veterinary club and spent a month in Belize on an unforgettable externship, learning about zoological conservation and large animal medicine in the tropics. She also gained hands-on experience working in the large animal teaching hospital, a small animal clinic, and assisting with laboratory research.
Dr. Bigelow went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts and Nevis. Living on the island gave her the incredible opportunity to experience a new culture and connect with students from all walks of life. She completed her clinical year at Auburn University in Alabama, where she fell in love with the small college town, its school spirit, and—of course—the coffee shops!
After nearly a decade of hard work pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Bigelow began practicing small animal medicine in northern Tennessee—where she also met the love of her life. A few years later, he proposed in the Smoky Mountains, and they were married in beautiful Glacier National Park, Montana. Drawn to the mountains and the outdoors, Dr. Bigelow is thrilled to now call Colorado Springs home, where she can enjoy hiking and exploring in her free time.
Over the years, Dr. Bigelow has discovered that her favorite part of veterinary medicine is building trusting relationships with pets and their people. She believes in working together with pet owners to provide the best care possible and approaches each patient with empathy and understanding. Her special interests include preventive care, dentistry, feline medicine, and senior pet care.
At home, Dr. Bigelow is a proud pet mom to two dogs—Olive, a sweet senior pittie mix, and Caribou, a fun-loving tripod sighthound—as well as Navi, a confident black cat who runs the household. When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll often find her reading at a local coffee shop, playing cozy video games, or exploring the great outdoors. One of her personal dreams is to someday write her own novels—all while continuing to care for families and their furry friends with compassion and heart.
