Dr. Reed is ‘almost’ a Colorado native, arriving at the ripe old age of 3 days old. Her father was a human general practitioner in the Winter Park/Granby area, where she spent the first 10 years of her life. Her family then moved to Oklahoma, and while that was a wonderful place to live, Colorado and the mountains have always been ‘home’.

Animal welfare and the desire to take care of animals came at a very early age, with her parents constantly having to monitor her bedroom ‘clinic’ for a variety of injured animals. It was around 5 years of age that the family veterinarian helped her realize that her desire to care for animals was a profession that she could pursue in her future.

But as life would have it, Dr. Reed didn’t pursue veterinary medicine until a bit later, choosing to travel and experience life and other professions, including sailing the Caribbean, Bahamas & Eastern seaboard by working on privately owned yachts.

In 2008 she achieved her undergraduate degree in Animal Science from the University of California, Davis.  Desiring the opportunity to live abroad, she chose to study veterinary medicine at the University of Edinburgh, Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, in Scotland.   She graduated with a BVM&S (veterinary doctorate degree) in 2012.

After graduation she returned to Colorado with her husband, Steve, and pursued a solo, mobile mixed animal practice which she enjoyed tremendously. The diversity and challenge of the medicine, as well as the independence and opportunity to establish incredible bonds with her clients and their pets drew her to this type of practice.  However, the rigors of a solo practice and her desire to specifically pursue small animal medicine and surgery drew her to Briargate Boulevard Animal Hospital in 2018.

She is very excited to be part of the BBAH care team for a variety of reasons, including the opportunity to establish and develop strong collaborative relationships with her clients and patients. She believes that this is achieved through open & cooperative dialogue, with the shared desire to always consider the pet’s best interest first and foremost.  Her promise to her clients is “to practice ethical medicine with integrity and compassion, and never compromise animal welfare or care.”

When Dr. Reed isn’t at work having an amazing time, she loves to go for trail rides on her horses (Sky and Gentry), explore the incredible Colorado outdoors, hike with her beloved dogs Hamish and Finnegan, and spend time with her cats (Ippie and Gallagher) and her amazing husband, Steve, either kayaking, skiing or when lucky traveling to the ocean and setting sail…
